The lab, set up in 1997, is one of the key labs of
SGCC.
The lab, equipped with analog/digital hybrid simulator
for power system simulation, is able to study the entire
transition process from electro-magnetic transient to
electro-mechanical transient.
The lab is capable of simulating AC-DC power system
of up to four complete traditional bipolar DC links,
one VSC-based DC link, 40 digital generator (load) models
and as many as ten thousand kilometers of power transmission
line.
The simulation center is mainly used to do studies on
power system optimization, operation status analysis
and control and protection strategy for AC-DC parallel
operation system. Since the establishment of the center,
it has accomplished a number of research programs of
AC and DC power systems, including the simplification
of Three Gorges power grid, Tianshengqiao-Guangzhou
AC-DC power transmission, TCSC projects, 750 kV EHV
power transmission, multi-in-feed HVDC power transmission
of South China power grid and the first phase of out-sending
project of Jinsha River Hydropower.
