•  The lab, set up in 1958, now is the largest in Asia, and the second in the world.

•  It is equipped with 12 simulating generator units and accessory facilities of 27 transformers and 16 synchronous and asynchronous motors.

•  It is capable of simulating the operation, switching and contingence conditions for power systems of various voltage levels.

•  It is mainly used for the simulation tests of power system and checking tests of protective relay performance. It plays an important role in the system research and relay type selection in a number of major power system projects, such as China's first 500 kV AC power transmission project, first 750 kV AC power transmission project and Tianshengqiao-Guangzhou transmission series compensation project.
